Apelin-13 and Asprosin in Adolescents with Anorexia Nervosa and Their Association with Psychometric and Metabolic Variables

Introduction Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a widespread, metabo-psychiatric disorder with high relapse rates, comorbidity, and mortality. Many regulatory proteins neurohormones studied to date play essential roles in the etiopathogenesis of eating disorders maintenance psychopathological symptoms. Nevertheless, pathophysiological mechanisms AN are still poorly understood. Objectives The present study aimed investigate plasma levels asprosin (ASP) apelin-13 (APE-13) malnourished (AN1) partially cured (AN2) adolescent patients AN. Correlations between protein several dimensions symptomatology, such as disorder, depressive, obsessive compulsive symptoms, were investigated. Methods Sixty-four aged 11–18 years admitted Department Child Adolescent Psychiatry acute phase participated study. Between 1st 3rd days admission, underwent psychometric evaluation, height weight assessment, 15 mL blood was drawn. same procedures repeated at second time point about 11.2 ± 2.3 weeks later, after partial normalization body on day discharge (AN2). control group (CG) normal-weight girls no history psychiatric disorders, recruited from among students local school. Patients included nutritional rehabilitation program. Daily caloric intake 2000–2500 kcal gradually increased 3500–4000 depending gain (1.0–1.5 kg per week).
